So happy it is spring! I can almost open my windows at my new office and enjoy the fresh air, almost. Lots of things are in bloom for me this spring. Working on 3 or 4 logos for clients, a music related ad, finishing up the glossary for Hampden Country Sheriff to be used at the jails, and helping a few different family members with tasks to improve/ grow their businesses. I also have been very busy with my new job at Edaron Inc. in Holyoke, MA. I'm in charge of developing new products, so I'm having fun trying new things and hoping that they will work out and sell well. Looking forward to what this year brings both for my business but also for this job. I'm hoping to have the opportunity to work on many interesting projects this year. Keeping my fingers crossed. Well take care til next time I pop in. Keep Calm, Create On.
Well I totally failed on maintaining a blog. Guess I'll try again this year. This year has been very good so far. I've had the pleasure of working on various projects, mostly puzzle boxes. I've been keeping current with the contests on www.99designs.com and www.creativeallies.com. Things haven't always worked out how I anticipated. My business is doing well and as much as I try to make this a career, it's difficult. I've been trying desperately to get a full-time graphics job so I can have the security of weekly or biweekly paychecks. I've been watching tutorials on many many things, mostly photoshop and illustrator techniques. I'm going back to school for Web Design, so I can know how to apply my graphics online and I can build websites on my own. It works out well, my daughter goes to Kindergarten in the fall. I will have a lot more time to work on advertising, hopefully blogging, watching more tutorials to learn and keeping current on what other designers are doing. Perseverance is key. I just have to keep trying and learning. Eventually I'll get a break. Well time to get back to studying my books and watching tutorials. Have a great day!
Alright, so here's my first post. Guess I should be boring and explain myself and what I hope to accomplish with this blog. My name's Erica, I'm a graphic designer from East Longmeadow MA. I am the owner of EK Graphic Design. My main goal in the business is to use everything I know to help effectively communicate a message for a client. This blog is to serve as my outlet. To talk about current projects, things I've learned, mistakes I've made, interesting things I find online pertaining to art and design, and anything else I feel like including. Hope you enjoy some of the things you read. You can check me out on Facebook or follow me on Twitter also.
